Fried Rice Recipe: Easy Meals with Leftovers
When you make rice for dinner, it’s pretty easy to just double the amount that you cook, thus leaving leftovers for the following day, to turn into fried rice. When you look for a fried rice recipe, easy to make, you’ll find a large number of recipes, some complicated, some not so much. But really, you can whip up your very own recipe with very little work.
Fried rice is a great way to feed your family for cheap. You need to start with the base and then you can build from there.
The Basic Fried Rice Recipe: Easy to Whip Up
You’ll need onions, sliced, to start. Fry them up in a little oil, add some more oil once they are translucent and add your rice. The amount really doesn’t matter, however much you happen to have on hand.
Most people add soy sauce to their fried rice and truthfully, you can eat it just like this. But, if you want to create a full meal, you’ll need to add more than just soy sauce to the mix!
Add-ons
Use the basic fried rice recipe, easy to use up leftovers, and anything else you want to add. Open up the fridge, check out what you have in there and then add them. Here are a few ideas.
Meats: Crispy bacon, leftover cooked chicken or beef and even ground beef can all be chopped up and added to the fried rice. Shrimp, crab and other seafood all goes very well in rice dishes like this, as well. You’ll want to add the more delicate meats at the very end of cooking and just heat them through (assuming they are already cooked).
Veggies: Anything goes, really! Carrots, peas, green beans, snap peas, corn, etc. are all prime candidates for your fried rice recipe. Easy frozen veggie mixes are even better, since you can just toss a couple cups in with the rice and you have an instant meal. The only things that are not usually found in a fried rice recipe, easy to remember, are starchy foods, like potatoes and yams.
Flavorings: While soy sauce is the generally accepted flavoring for this dish, you can also add fish sauce, a few drops of Worchestershire sauce or even sweet and sour sauce. The choice is yours!
Toppings: Try sprinkling chopped pine nuts, toasted sesame seeds or sunflower seeds, etc. on top of the rice to create a tastier, more nutritious dish. Herbs and chopped green onions are another great topping.

Are you like me, do you get bored making the same meal for your family night after night? Are you afraid to try recipes that haven’t been tried by family members or friends? I am. This time I took a chance and it worked out great. Spanish Rice is great when served in a resturant so why not make it for yourself. There is no need to wait until Cinco de Mayo to try Spanish Rice, so the next time you make taco’ s or burrito’ s for dinner try making this Spanish Rice recipe.
Things Needed:
1 Can of corn
1/2 Lb of Ground Turkey
1/2 Cup diced onion
2/3 Cup diced green pepper
1 (28 Ounce) can Crushed tomatoes
1 Cup uncooked white rice
1 Cup water
1/4 Tsp Garlic powder
Salt & Pepper to taste
Chop the onion and green pepper into the size peices your family likes. Sometimes with the grand children I have to dice them pretty small to kind of hide them.
Brown ground turkey, onion and green pepper in large cast iron skillet.
Add water, drained corn, rice, crushed tomatoes, garlic powder and salt & pepper and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the rice is tender. Remember to stir occasionally while it is cooking.
Try Spanish Rice with a Wet Burrito or Taco dinner, the combination is great.
Tips & Warnings:
Fresh (chopped) tomatoes are great if you have them.
More onion and green pepper makes the meal even better in my opinion.
If your family is meat eaters, use a whole pound of ground turkey

Betty’s Curried Rice Recipe
In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Curried Rice to accompany Baked Coconut Shrimp with Jamaican Jerk Seasoning. This rice is made by cooking rice in butter until it is golden, and then adding curry powder, chicken broth, and salt, and cooking on the stove top until done. Ingredients: 1 ¼ cups rice (I used long grain white rice, but you may use any type of rice.) 4 ½ tablespoons butter, melted 1 teaspoon curry powder 1 ½ teaspoons (1/2 tablespoon) salt 2 ¼ cups chicken broth In a medium-sized pot, stir together 1 ¼ cups rice and 4 ½ tablespoons melted butter. Place over medium heat and cook while stirring, until the rice is a golden color. Add 1 teaspoon curry powder, 1 ½ teaspoons salt, and 2 ¼ cups chicken broth. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook until rice is tender, and chicken broth is absorbed. This rice has a delicate curry flavor, and is a great accompaniment to many meals! I hope you like it! Betty

Looking For a Recipe? – Why Not Try Mexican Rice
Rice is among the most heavily cultivated of all grains and is the cultivated crop, which is eaten by more people around the world than any other is. In much of Asia, Africa and South and Central America as well as Mexico. It is hard to imagine Mexican cuisine without rice; after corn, it is the most important staple of the Mexican diet, with a large number of Mexican rice recipes being classic examples of Mexican cooking.
As central as rice is to Mexican cooking, it is a relatively recent arrival in the grand scheme of things, having arrived in what is now Mexico with colonists and explorers from Spain and Portugal. The peoples of the new world took to the new grain with enthusiasm and rice was soon one of the most important staples in the Mexican kitchen. Some of the dishes, which are now considered to be traditional Mexican rice recipes date from the early days after rice, began to be cultivated in the Americas.
Authentic Mexican Rice Recipes
Arroz con pollo is both a classic Mexican rice dish and a classic Mexican chicken dish. From the Spanish for “rice with chicken,” this is the Mexican take on this timeless comfort food and it is an incredibly satisfying one. This is one Mexican rice recipe you may want to try making at home – it is a great change of pace from the familiar American version with canned soup.
Arroz con pollo is an excellent example of how recipes, which originated in Spain, became Mexican recipes through adaptation to use locally available ingredients as well as to work in flavors and ingredients, which became popular with the European settlers. In the case of this recipe, tomatoes found their way in to the cooking pot, as did the more assertive Mexican oregano as a substitute for the European variety, which was unavailable in the country.
Spanish Cuisine Adapts To the Mexican Diet
After the Spanish began to grow rice in Mexico, it quickly became a hit, working its way into dishes, which combined old and new ingredients, with some of the results now known as authentic Mexican rice recipes. One dish, which we think of as Spanish as can be is paella, but a look at the ingredients commonly, used in this dish reveal something very interesting. For example, tomato is a common ingredient; a new world ingredient, which must inevitably have found its way into a pot of rice and seafood long before a cook in Valencia, thought to do the same.
Of course, even Spanish paella happens to have a slight Mexican accent due to the inclusion of tomatoes and quite often, bell peppers – both of which are native to the Americas and were brought back to Europe from the new world! Needless to say, this is also a very popular Mexican rice dish with many regional variations being found throughout Mexico, especially in coastal regions of the country.
Lightly seasoned Mexican rice is another of the better-known Mexican rice recipes. This rice is served as a complement to a wide variety of Mexican dishes, particularly beans. This is a dish, which is quite similar to Spanish rice; and just as with paella, this rice actually contains some new world ingredients.
Rice has become almost as important of a dietary staple in Mexico as it is in much of the world. It may not have been in the Mexican culinary repertoire as long as corn or chilies, but it has found a happy place in this one of a kind cuisine and if you enjoy any of these wonderful Mexican rice recipes, you are certainly glad that it made its way over to the Americas.

Saffron Rice Recipe – How To Cook An Easy And Flavorful Rice
Saffron Rice Recipe
Ingredients for the Saffron Rice recipe:
2 cups (400g/13 oz.) basmati rice
25g (1oz.) butter
3 bay leaves
1 1/4 of teaspoon saffron threads
2 cups (500ml/16 fl oz.) boiling vegetable stock
Directions for the Saffron Rice recipe:
1. Wash the rice, then cover with cold water and soak for 30 minutes. Drain well.
2. Heat the butter in a frying pan, add the bay leaves and rice and cook, stirring, for 6 – 7 minutes, or until dry.
3. Soak the saffron in 2 tablespoons of hot water for 5 minutes. Add to the rice with the stock and 1 1/2 cup (375ml/12 fl oz) boiling water. Bring to the boil, then simmer, covered, for 12-15 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked.

Note for the Saffron Rice Recipe:
This is an easy and flavorful rice that you should enjoy making it when white rice just gets too boring. When it is finished it is fluffy and the rice is not broken. You should rinse the rice and clean it thoroughly before you add it to the mixture and you can also garnish it with some parsley for some color. This recipe is known because it uses basmati rice, and is much healthier and lighter. Also this is a recipe which can be cooked very fast when you need something to eat fast or you have unannounced guests.
