How to use a Rice Cooker

Good book for beginners but not for the experienced vegetarian cook.,
This book would be great for you if you are new to vegan or vegetarian cooking and are looking for easy recipes that use soy cheese and vegan meat substitutes. I was disapointed. I was hoping for simple recipes using beans and whole grains. This book uses cheese and meat substitutes in a way that would be obvious to any experienced cook. That said, the recipes are easy to follow and organized well. Helpful for those new to crockpots and looking for easy to prepare healthy meals.

|Crockpots Rule… But This Cookbook Does Not.,
Vegan crockpotting is the best thing ever. This cookbook was not my first foray into this made-for-lazy-people-like-me brand of cooking that is sweeping the nation; after finding countless creative, delicious and easy recipes for free on the internets, I thought it would be nice to have a book to consult, rather than the unglamorous and dangerous way I’d prop my laptop on the kitchen counter to consult as a I dropped things in my crockpot.
There’s no delicate or easy way to say it: This cute little cookbook basically stinks. First of all, there aren’t very many recipes, but the worst part is that the recipes aren’t very tastey or interesting—and they heavily rely on very processed foods like “canned vegan gravy” (what the heck is that?) and “vegan sausage” (gag). I am giving this two stars because if you are brand spankin’ new to crock-potting, and don’t give a darn that your food is not especially nutritious or interesting, then heck: this might be the perfect cookbook for you.
There’s a terrific database of WONDERFUL vegan crockpot recipes on the fatfreevegan dot blogspot dot com website that’ll make you want to crockpot until your fingers bleed. This one will only inspire you to put your crockpot back for another thirty years, which you absolutely should not do. Trust me.

|Keeping it simple,
I usually only read reviews but never write them. I use this cookbook every week. I work ten hours a day and must eat two of my meals at work. I fix a sandwich for lunch and for dinner I have a meal dished out from this week’s slow cooker pot. There are few exotic ingredients. Most recipes are: add vegetables and spices to slow cooker and wait 6-8 hours. Very simple. I’ve made ten different dishes so far: 8 excellent, 1 okay, 1 I won’t make again. I’ve made the sausage with peppers many times because I’ll forget to make a grocery list and there’s only three ingredients for this dish. My dogs must also like this cookbook because it fell on the floor one day and when I came home they ate the cover. It must be good!
